A
CELEBRATION OF JAMES R. STATEN
You are cordially invited to a celebration
of James R. Staten! On Sunday, March 7, 2010, the public – as well as
family, friends, staff, neighbors, students, and former co-workers – is
invited to attend a free musical event at the Grove City Methodist Church,
located at 2684 Columbus Street in Grove City, on Sunday, at 3:00pm. (That’s
the “Purple Door” church.) Its purpose is to honor Jim Staten, a retired
principal and personnel supervisor for South-Western City Schools (SWCS).
The concert will raise money for the establishment of the New Directions
Career Center (NDCC) “James R. Staten Scholarship”. Jim is a volunteer at
NDCC and the agency is honoring him for his work with clients. Over the
past three years, he has served as a guest teacher in the classroom,
facilitated training of older adults re-entering the workforce, and
conducted mock interviews.
The Grove City Chamber Singers – along with other performers
– will
provide the entertainment. Again, there is no charge to attend this
celebration of Jim Staten but a freewill offering will be taken to create
the NDCC “James R. Staten Scholarship”. The scholarship will specifically
assist job seekers who reside in the SWCS district. NDCC is a non-profit
organization, serving central Ohio for thirty years, which assists
individuals attain and maintain financial self-sufficiency.
